138. MARRYING WOMEN WHO WERE GIVEN BOOKS.
This verse (5:5) says that women who belong to the people of Books can be wedded. Many people assume that this verse permits marrying of Jew and Christian women in general, while they remain as Jews and Christians. But those who were not people of Israel would not become people who had received Books.
