Arabs in those days had been setting free their animals that they vowed to their deities, in different ways. They would set free certain she-camels offered to the deities; they had decided that nobody should milk them; they would name such camels as ‘Baheera’.
Similarly they would set free certain camels for their deities and they had ordered that no one should ride on them; they would name such camels as ‘Saiba’.
If a she-camel begot two female off-springs consecutively they would get free that parent she-camel for the deities. They would name it ‘Waseela’.
If a stallion-camel impregnated a particular number of she-camels they would set free that stallion-camel for their deities; they would name such camels as ‘ham’.
This Quranic verse 5:103 condemns such of their beliefs.
