170. HARMONY WITH PEOPLE OF OTHER FAITHS

The basic principle of Islam is that there can be only one God for the universe. Islam is steadfast in this policy.

Islam reiterates that what all are worshipped except Allah are nothing but fancy and they are not Gods.

Nevertheless, Islam makes it clear that commenting in degrading manner or abusing of the idols whom the non-Muslims trust as Gods, is not permitted.

Thus, Islam paves the way for harmonious relations among the people of various religions by commanding that Muslims should not abuse the deities (idols) whom the non-Muslims consider ‘sacred’, howsoever they might initiate quarrels.

At the same time, commenting sensibly that Allah alone could be God and there could not be many Gods - would not become defamation of the deities (idols) of other religions.
