221. When water gushed.
In the verses 11:40, 23:27, the word “Thannur” has been used. As it is a foreign language most of the scholars interpret it as ‘oven’.
In Persian and Urdu languages, it has been used in the sense ‘oven’.
Certain companions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had interpreted that it would only mean water. It looks appropriate. The ‘Gushing of water’ only would be a sign of destruction and also a sign that would be known instantly. Hence we have also interpreted as water.
