59. ISLAM DESTROYS UNTOUCHABILITY

During the ninth day of Hajj all the people will stay at 'Arafat ' ground. But in those days people belonging to 'Quraish' community, who were considered upper sect, would stay at 'Muzdhalifa' separately avoiding other people.

'Muztdhalifa' is situated within the bounds of Masjidul Haraam while the 'Arafat' is situated beyond the bounds of Masjidul Haraam.

Hence those who belonged to Quraish tribe prevented others from staying at Muzdhalifa which lay within the sacred bounds, while they alone had stayed there.

'Arafat' had been treated by them as a place segregated outside the town.

Islam eradicated this kind of untouchablity also.

A command was made through this Quranic verse directing Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and other Muslims who belonged to upper sect to stay along with all other people in 'Arafat'. Islam totally eliminated all discriminations, which are attributed on the basis of caste, sect, language, and race by gathering together people of all nations in a place which was segregated for the touchables.

There are Hadiths in the Books refer Bukhari (4520) and Muslim regarding the above fact.

This Quranic verse (2:199) stands as an evidence to prove that Prophet Muhammad’s(pbuh) elucidation is essential to understand the verse, ”Then depart from the place where all the people depart…. "
