80. CAN WE GIVE INFERIOR THINGS TO OTHERS?

The Quranic verses 2:267 and 3:92 must be comprehended in a proper view point. Most of the things given by us as alms are unwanted for us. If others gave such things we would not accept that. Charity of such things should be restricted.

If we comprehended like this, a situation would arrive wherein we would have to decide that we should not give things which we had once utilized by and the food items that were leftovers.

In this context, we have to look at things from the point of view of the one who is willing to receive charity. Whatever things we consider waste may be a necessity for the one who receives the charity. So, we can give such things as charity.

We should not give as alms such things which we would not accept if we were in the position of a person who would accept charity. We give as charity our shirt which we have used, to another person. We would also accept the shirt used by another person, if we were in such condition.

At the same time, we should not give as alms our inner garments already used by us. As we would also not accept such things (inner garments of other people), if we were in the position of a person who would accept alms.

Thus we must comprehend these verses and also similar other verses, which convey this message, in this manner only.
