227. Book in Arabic language.
As it had been stated in the Quranic verses 12:2, 13:37, 16:103, 20:113, 25:45, 26:198, 39:28, 41:44, 42:7, 43:3, that Quran was bestowed in Arabic language, nobody should assume that Islam holds that Arabic language alone as the excellent language.
Messengers (Prophets (pbut)) had been sent to people of all languages. Similarly Books had been bestowed in all languages. (Refer Quran 14:4)
Why should Allah state that Quran was bestowed in Arabic language? That too, why should he say “in clear Arabic language?” There are so many reasons for this.
The enemies of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) could not assume that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) imagines himself and reveals the Quranic verses – since the context of Quran which was presented by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as Book of Allah had been in high style and since Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was unlettered.
Hence, they had been telling that only a person who was meeting Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) often was teaching him this Book.
But whom they alleged as one who was teaching Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his mother- tongue was not Arabic. Quran says that it was bestowed in Arabic language in order to assume that Quran has been made in clear Arabic language.
(Refer Quran 16:103).
One another reason is to make it clear that Quran was bestowed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who was unlettered and moreover Quran had been bestowed in Arabic language, possesses very high style and hence, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) certainly cannot imagine and utter it in such high style.
Quran never mentioned in any of its chapters either directly or indirectly that ‘Arabic language alone is the excellent language.
